Top Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka, No. 24 in the WTA rankings, failed to reach the Wimbledon semifinal losing to world No. 1 Serena Williams.
Azarenka lost to Serena Williams 6-3, 2-6, 3-6 in 2 hours 3 minutes.
That was the 20th WTA meeting of Victoria Azarenka and Serena Williams, and the Belarusian was victorious in only three of them.
In her Wimbledon run this year Victoria Azarenka defeated Estonian Anett Kontaveit (145), Belgian Kirsten Flipkens (96), French Kristina Mladenovic (38) and Swiss Belinda Bencic (22).
In the Wimbledon semifinal Serena Williams will play Maria Sharapova (4) of Russia who defeated another U.S. player Coco Vanderweghe (47) 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 6-2 in the quarterfinal.
