Less than 25% of the areas with grain and leguminous crops (except for maize, buckwheat and millet) is left to harvest in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 13 August, grain and leguminous crops were harvested on the area of 1.68 million hectares, or 76.5% of the plan. Brest Oblast has taken the lead fulfilling 93.7% of the harvesting plan (316,400 hectares). Gomel Oblast harvested 87.1% of the area (296,300 hectares), Grodno Oblast cropped 85.6% (272,700 hectares), Minsk Oblast harvested 81% (392,800 hectares), Mogilev Oblast gathered 61.8% (207,800 hectares), Vitebsk Oblast harvested 51.5% (194,600 hectares).
All in all, 6.365 million tonnes of grain was threshed across the country with the average yield at 37.9 centners per hectare (in 2019, the yield as of the same date was 31.9 centners per hectare). Minsk Oblast harvested more than 1.5 million tonnes of grain. The 1 million-tonne target was hit by Brest Oblast and Grodno Oblast.
Flax was harvested on the area of 39,200 hectares (80.5% of the area under this crop).
The second grass cutting was done on the area of 737,600 hectares (90.1% of the plan). Some 724,500 tonnes of hay (71.7% of the plan), 12.507 million tonnes of haylage (99.3%) and 551,500 tonnes of silage (2.88%) were stocked.
There are plans to procure 9.3 million tonnes of fodder units of grass feed, most of them in Minsk Oblast and Brest Oblast. So far, 42.8% of the plan has been fulfilled. There are plans to procure almost 19.2 million tonnes of silage, 12.6 million tonnes of haylage (including 1.1 million tonnes in polymer packaging), and 1.01 million tonnes of hay
